Für das Versenden von Faxen mit directfax benötigt die IBM i eine Verbindung mit dem "Fax-Netzwerk" - bislang ist dieses eine analoge oder ISDN-Telefonleitung, oder die Anbindung an VoIP.

Auf dieser Seite werden die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten dargestellt, Fax-Hardware an die IBM i anzuschliessen und für directfax nutzbar zu machen.

To send faxes with directfax the IBM i needs a connection to the "fax network" - so far this is an analog or ISDN phone line, or a connection to VoIP.

This page shows the different possibilities to connect fax hardware to the IBM i and make it usable for directfax.

Toolmaker Communications Unit - TCUB4

Die TCUB4 ist zur Zeit die aktuelle Möglichkeit directfax mit dem Fax-Netzwerk zu verbinden. Es ist ein Router RT1202 der Firma Bintec, der von Toolmaker speziell für directfax konfiguriert und getestet wurde. Er wird Server-seitig per Ethernet angeschlossen und verfügt über 2 ISDN-Anschlüsse, d.h. er verfügt über 4 Faxkanäle, die parallel betrieben werden können, wenn die entsprechenden Lizenzen in directfax vorhanden sind.

Handbuch und Software für TCUB4 (Bintec RT1202) auf der Bintec-Seite: The TCUB4 is currently the current way to connect directfax to the fax network. It is a router RT1202 from Bintec, which was configured and tested by Toolmaker especially for directfax. It is connected on the server side via Ethernet and has 2 ISDN ports, i.e. it has 4 fax channels that can be operated in parallel if the appropriate licenses are available in directfax.

and Comport4: Ethernet

Der ist Comport wird Server-seitig per Ethernet angeschlossen und verfügt je nach Modell über 1 oder 4 V24-Anschlüsse. Die Konfiguration der Kanäle erfolgt über directfax.

Kommunikationsservermodelle #58001, #58004 und #58201, hergestellt von Wiesemann und Thies werden unterstützt.

If a serial interface (V.24) verfügbar ist, dann kann man ein Modem anschliessen. Es werden aber nur wenige, ausgewählte Modelle unterstützt, deren Verfügbarkeit auf dem Markt fraglich ist. 

TCUx

Hierbei handelt es sich um spezielle Server-Hardware, die teilweise und Linux und teilweise unter Windows betrieben wird.
