directfaxLite ist eine im Funktionsumfang eingeschränkte, dafür aber preisgünstige Version von directfax.

Folgende Funktionen sind in der Lite-Version nicht verfügbar:

directfaxLite is a functionally limited but inexpensive version of directfax.

The following functions are available in the Lite version not available:

• The automatic incoming fax distribution
• The AutoFax function (autom. fax sending without programming)
• The options for designing fax documents described in the manual in the chapter Creating mixed faxes (landscape fax, font selection, line and box commands, graphics positioning)
• The sending of spool files with *AFPDS, *USERASCII or *ADVSCS data stream.
• The image display on a 3489 screen.

The directfax/PC component can be licensed in conjunction with the Lite version without any functional restrictions.

Notes on licensing

directfax ist in verschiedenen Ausbaustufen mit mehr oder weniger Funktionalität einsetzbar. Die Funktionalität wird über Lizenzmodelle realisiert. Durch Eingabe der entsprechenden Lizenz wird die Funktion freigeschaltet.

Nach der Erstinstallation kann directfax für maximal 30 Tage ohne Lizenzierung getestet werden.Weitere Information dazu finden Sie auf der Seite Lizenzdatei.

directfax Shareware Funktion

directfax wird mit einer Benutzungslimitierung ausgeliefert, die es erlaubt, auch ohne Lizenz Faxe zu versenden. Diese als Shareware bezeichnete Möglichkeit ist für Interessenten zum „Schnuppern" gedacht und lässt den Versand von 5 Faxen täglich zu. Danach beendet sich das Kontrollprogramm und einige Menüpunkte sind blockiert. Am nächsten Tag kann directfax wieder normal gestartet werden.

Der Funktionsumfang von Shareware umfasst den der directfax Lite-Version. Daher sind die Funktionen AutoFax, automatische Eingangsfaxverteilung, Imageanzeige und MIX-Befehle gesperrt, wenn keine gültige Lizenz für das System eingegeben wurde oder die Testzeit abgelaufen ist!

Die Lizenzdatei und die Datensicherung

Das IFS-Verzeichnis /Toolmaker/Directfax400 enthält je nach Konfiguration und Ihren Nutzungsgewohnheiten ebenfalls wichtige Daten für directfax. Bitte berücksichtigen Sie dies bei Ihrer täglichen Datensicherung.

directfax shareware function

directfax is delivered with a usage limitation, which allows to send faxes even without a To send faxes without a license. This option, called shareware, is intended for interested parties to "try it out" and allows the sending of 5 Faxes daily. After that the control program terminates and some menu items are blocked. The next day directfax can be started normally again.

The functional range of shareware includes that of the directfax Lite version. Therefore the functions AutoFax, automatic incoming fax distribution, image display and MIX commands are blocked if no valid license for the system has been entered or the test time has expired!

The license file and the backup

The IFS directory /Toolmaker/Directfax400 also contains important data for directfax, depending on the configuration and your usage habits. Please take this into account in your daily data backup.

Deinstallation der IBM i-Software

Wollen Sie directfax auf Ihrem System nicht länger nutzen, müssen Sie sicherstellen, dass die Bibliotheksnamen DIRECTFAX oder DIRECTFAXF nicht mehr vorkommen in

• Jobbeschreibungen (JOBD)
• Systemwerten (z.B. QUSRLIBL)

Stellen Sie alle Aktivitäten mit Produkt ein, verlassen Sie alle Fax-Menü-Anzeigen mit F3 und sorgen sie dafür, dass weder die Bibliothek DIRECTFAX noch DIRECTFAXF im Zugriff ist.  Hilfreich dabei kann die Auswahl 8 des TIM-Menüs sein, die Ihnen zu einer Bibliothek anzeigt, ob und welche Objekte noch von welchen Jobs gesperrt werden.

Danach geben Sie folgenden Befehl ein:

CALL DIRECTFAX/DROPDIRFAX

Das Programm kopiert sich selbst in die Bibliothek QUSRSYS und startet die Kopie in der QUSRSYS mit dem Befehl SBMJOB, so dass die gesamte Löschaktion im Hintergrund abläuft. Das Löschen aller directfax-Objekte kann 10-15 Minuten dauern. Es erfolgt eine Schlussmeldung an die QSYSOPR-Nachrichtenwarteschlange (Text Fax reception and distribution in the BASE version

Uninstallation of IBM i software

If you want to stop using directfax on your system, you have to make sure that the Library names DIRECTFAX or DIRECTFAXF no longer appear in

• Job descriptions (JOBD)
• System values (e.g. QUSRLIBL)

The certificate file (e.g. License_DIRFAX_06_65481XX.txt) wird is stored IFS -Verzeichnis  directory /Toolmaker Ihrer ofyour IBM i gespeichert. Da der Dateiname die Serien-Nr. des zugehörigen Systems enthält, ist hier bei der Spiegelung keine besondere Maßnahme erforderlich. Die Lizenzdateien der Produktions- und Backupmaschine können in das selbe Verzeichnis /Toolmaker gestellt werden.

Bis einschliesslich Version 5.92

Im Rahmen einer Hochverfügbarkeitslösung mit Spiegelung der Objekte wird der Lizenzcode von directfaxauf der Backup-Maschine immer wieder mit dem der Produktionsmaschine überschrieben.

Dies kann verhindert werden, indem man die Lizenzobjekte für directfax aus der Spiegelung herausnimmt.

Bei Übertragung der Bibliotheken von Produktivsysteme auf Backup-Systeme dürfen folgende lizenzrelevante Objekte nicht mit synchronisiert werden, bzw. müssen nach der Synchronisation auf dem Backup-System aus einer Sicherung wieder hergestellt werden.

Up to and including version 5.92

In the context of a high availability solution with mirroring of the objects, the license code of directfaxon the backup machine is always overwritten with that of the production machine.

This can be prevented by using the License objects for directfax removed from mirroring.

When transferring libraries from production systems to backup systems, the following license code objects must not be synchronized as well, or must be restored from a backup after synchronization on the backup system.
